Sometimes you have a really wonderful reason to miss the farmer's market!
On my wall hang 8 pictures of 8 kids. Through our fostering journey, some of those kids stayed forever and some moved on, but all of them are my kids.
This weekend, 2 of those kids' mom drove 6 hours so they could all spend the weekend here with us.
Missing my one sleepy Saturday morning I get with them to go visit a farmers market is unimaginable to me.
That really gets to the heart of why I started this business.
I really passionately believe in local food.
I believe in its value to our economy.
I believe in its value to my health and the health of the land that I live on and love so much.
I believe it is our future and the future for my children, whom I love so much.
But the life of a busy parent in this current world does not make local food and farmers market attendance easily accessible.
I am not discouraging you from visiting the farmers market. Please do! Meet the farmers. Smell the candles. Touch the things made by someone else's hand.
But we offer The Morrow Market as a true option for building sustainable relationships between customers who have busy lives and the farmers who want to serve them.
Our entire modern infrastructure rewards cheap fast food with low nutritional value, low transparency on sourcing, and way too often invisible but very real slavery. We don't want to know why the food is so cheap when it's traveling across the entire globe. How can this be? We know the answers are darker than what we want to face.
When you are buying from your neighbors, transparency comes built in. They go to school with your kids. You run into them at the fair. They are a friend of a friend. If you want to know where your food comes from, you can literally visit the farm. You can call the farmer and chat.
The food tastes better because the farmers are directly feeding themselves and their family with it. They are facing their customers eye to eye constantly. They couldn't care any more about the quality of what they're giving to you if they tried.
The food we carry is also not prepared and packaged around storage and long transport.
All food in a grocery store must endure storage and long transport. That's why there are preservatives. That's why there are sprays. That's why they aren't picked when they're ripe.
You could write a thousand dissertations on why local food is tastier, healthier, better for you, and better for the economy, but it's never going to change the reality of what it is to live and survive in a rural, car-centered, busyness-built-in society where some of the most powerful and rich companies in the world control our lives.
The only thing we can do is try to make it easier for you to eat the food you want to eat and support the people you want to support.

The cutoff for ordering is Tuesday night at midnight. We pick up the food fresh from the farms on Thursdays and deliver it straight to your door on Fridays.
We strive to reduce waste by offering bag-free delivery or reusable bag delivery as an option.
We also have a limited number of options with refill packaging. You pay a small deposit and receive that back when I pick the empty jar, tin, or bag up from you with your next order.

Every order is one more week that local farmers get to keep farming. One more small step toward the kind of community I think all of us want to live in.
